TS Galaxy FC showed character against Swallows FC as they came back twice to earn a point in the opening game of the DStv Diski Challenge this morning at Wits Football Stadium.
The match ended in a 2-all stalemate. Swallows broke the deadlock as early as the 9th minute.
The TS Galaxy netminder committed a blunder when he failed to clear a back-pass and Sanele Gule pounced on the mistake.
Before that critical moment, it was the Rockets who were piling all sorts of pressure trying to break through the lines.
Four minutes after going behind, the Rockets levelled the matters via a penalty spot. It was comfortably converted by Ndumiso Xulu in the 14th minute.
Nene was cautioned for fouling Aphelele Teto inside the box. Three minutes later, Nene committed another foul around the box. He denied Xulu a clear goalscoring opportunity and was given his marching orders.
Maseti made another mistake as he failed to trap the back pass made by Kabelo Mkhize and the ball rattled the net in the 24th minute.
Despite these two critical mistakes, the Rockets continued to dominate the bulk of the possession and made numerous box entries without any luck in front of goals.
Teto restored parity for the young Rockets in the dying minutes of the game, slotting in a penalty. In the end, the game ended in a 2-all stalemate.
