TS Galaxy FC missed out on a top eight finish in the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season after succumbing to defeat at the expense of Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
Samir Nurkovic netted for Amakhosi and his strike kicked us out of the top eight.
He broke the deadlock with a header after 26 minutes.
The Rockets started like a house on fire enjoying the bulk of the possession. They played at a frenetic pace and made a lot of box entries.
Masilake Phohlongo almost put the Rockets in the lead but Bruce Bvuma was well positioned to deny him with a fantastic diving save in the 7th minute.
The left-footed attacker was causing all sorts of problems for Amakhosi. Luckyboy Mokoena delivered a lovely pass into the path of Phohlongo but unfortunately, he couldn’t connect with the ball properly.
The Rockets continued to ask questions but lacked that killer instinct in the final third.
The visitors went into the interval leading. Straight after the interval Owen Da Gama and his technical team introduced Mlungisi Mbunjana in place of Ethan Brooks.
Chiefs were happy to sit at the back with the hope of catching us on transition. Sihle Nduli produced a moment of magic with his long-range strike which was saved by the diving Bvuma in the dying minutes of the match.
Amakhosi held onto their lead and replaced us in the top eight as a result. The Rockets finished the season level on 36 points with Chiefs.
They leapfrogged us because of a superior goal-difference to clinch the top eight spot.
