TS Galaxy hires Greg Etafia as goalkeeper coach

TS Galaxy FC has appointed former Nigeria international Greg Etafia as the new Goalkeeper Coach.

Etafia will take over the reins from Lucky Shiburi. The Rockets cut ties with Shiburi following the departure of Owen Da Gama last week.

Etafia rose to prominence in South African football during his time with Moroka Swallows.

He is excited to be part of the Rockets.

“I would like to thank Mr.Tim Sukazi for giving me an opportunity to be part of the club. He is a great man. He knows what he is doing. I’m humbled and grateful to be part of this family,” Etafia explained.

Etafia hung up his boots in 2016/17 after making over 300 Premiership appearances.

“Mr. Sukazi felt that I have the ability to contribute. I’m so grateful to be with him for showing faith in me,” he added.

After hanging up his boots, Etafia ventured into coaching. He has worked at Baroka FC, Swallows FC, Cape Town All Stars, and Highlands Park where he served as a Goalkeeper Coach.

“Clean sheets don’t only start from the defense or goalkeepers but it starts from the whole team. We have to defend and attack as a team. By God’s grace, I have to make sure that goalkeepers save points for the team. Clean sheets are very important,” he added.

Etafia has commenced his duties at TS Galaxy FC.

“It is still early days. There’s a long way to go. We don’t belong to that position. This international break came at the right time. There’s time for me to prepare.” Etafia elaborated.
