TS Galaxy fought gallantly last night against the defending champions and the log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns but unfortunately succumbed to a defeat.
The Brazilians emerge as victors thanks to goals from Peter Shalulile and Themba Zwane.
The game ended 2-0 in favour of Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last night in the DSTV Premiership.
Sundowns broke the deadlock in the 32and minutes after a moment of uncertainty at the back.
Shalulile beaten Ebrahim Seedat for pace and got to the ball first before rattling the back of the net.
Prior to that goal, he was caught in an offside position on numerous occasions.
Mbulelo Wambi hit the post in the first half following a lovely move from the right and side.
Shaune Mogaila delivered an exquisite cross in to the path of Wambi who unleashed a thunder-bolt that deflected on Brain Onyango before hitting the cross bar. It was a glorious opportunity but the framework denied us.
Sefako Matlala also tried his luck from distance but Onyango was well positioned to keep him at bay.
Sundowns headed to the interval leading by Shalulile’s first half strike.
The Rockets continued to ask questions but Onyango was at his best to deny the likes of Matlala, Bathusi Aubaas and Seedat.
The Ugandan International saved a last minutes penalty by Seedat. Onyango handled the ball inside the box and the referee, Eugene Mdluli penalized the Brazilians.
Seedat stepped up but his penalty was saved by Onyango. This was our second defeat. It was a back to back loss having suffered a defeat in our previous encounter against Stellenbosch FC.
On Saturday, we will entertain Cape Town City at Cape Town Stadium. The Rockets are now 10th on the log with seven points after seven games.
