Seedat opens up about his Bafana Bafana desire

Ebrahim Seedat is itching to break into the Bafana Bafana setup.

The talented left-footed player still aspires to represent the South African senior national team.

Seedat joined TS Galaxy FC last season from Cape Town City and has become one of the key players for the club.

“It is every player’s dream in South Africa to play for Bafana Bafana. It is their dream to represent the country and I have also had the same desire. It doesn’t matter at what level.

“Whether it is the Cosafa Cup, Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup. I want to play for my country,” Seedat elaborated.
He doesn’t need to go far for inspiration. Not so long ago his teammates, Ethan Brooks and Masilake Phohlongo inspired Bafana Bafana to the Cosafa Cup title while Macbeth Mahlangu was at the Olympic Games in Tokyo with the SA-Under-23 side.

Seedat is working diligently to follow in the footsteps of the above-mentioned trio.

“As long as I get to play for my country one day, I’ll be happy. I’m working very hard towards fulfilling that goal of mine” he added.

Bafana Bafana will be commencing their World Cup qualifiers next month when they face Zimbabwe and Ghana in back-to-back matches in September.

Seedat will be looking to impress the national selectors when we lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC later this month.

“We are preparing well for the season that is coming. Last season, I had an injury that kept me out for a while and also tested positive for Covid-19. Not playing for three months wasn’t good for me.

“Last season wasn’t a good season for me because I wasn’t playing a lot. This season, it is all about taking it step by step. I want to get a lot of confidence. I have set my sights on improving on my weaknesses and enhancing my strengths. This season, I want to play as many games as I can.” Seedat detailed.
