Phohlongo aims to hurt Pirates again

Masilake Phohlongo has made the habit of hurting Orlando Pirates.

The talented left-footer rose to prominence when he netted on his debut for TS Galaxy FC against the Sea Robbers at Orlando Stadium.

Phohlongo’s solitary strike on the day earned the Rockets a valuable point away from home as the two sides shared the spoils.

The Cape Town-born midfielder repeated his heroics in the return leg at the splendid Mbombela Stadium when he grabbed the winner for the Rockets.

Phohlongo is fit and ready to deliver against his favourite side.

“It is going to be a good game. I’m always happy to play against Pirates,” Phohlongo stated with a smile.

The Rockets will entertain the Buccaneers on Saturday at Orlando Stadium in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash. The kickoff is 5.30 pm.

“I have huge respect for Pirates but once the referee blows the whistle, it is eleven versus eleven. It is all about who wants it more,” he added.

Both teams have enjoyed a decent start to the new season. It is going to be the battle of 5th place and 6th place when these two teams lock horns. Pirates are lying 5th while Galaxy is 6th. Only two points separate the two teams.

“If I get an opportunity to play. I’ll showcase my talent. Hopefully, I’ll score again. There is no secret to scoring against the Pirates. Football is about taking risks. As a young boy, I always wanted to play against big teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns,” Phohlongo elaborated.

The Rockets have built a reputation as giant killers of South African football. They have already pulled off an upset getting better of the reigning DSTV Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

“It is going to be a tough game. We played against them last season at home and we beat them 1-0. We have to do it again.” Phohlongo concluded.
