GIVEN Msimango penned a new deal with TS Galaxy FC despite murmurs linking him to big clubs.
He is set to stay with the Rockets until 2025.
Speaking with the TS Galaxy media department, Msimango explained he snubbed the big clubs.
“To be honest when the rumour started, I got excited. It was a big club that I was linked with. Even though it was a rumour but it got me excited. It gets to a mental space where you feel you’ve done well. You are recognized for the work you do. The professional side of me brought me back to my sober senses. I had to calm down and contact the right people. I got hold of the chairman (Tim Sukazi) and my agent (Stanton Fredricks). Actually, that was some sort of truth to it but no further steps were taken to make it possible hence I decided to stay,” Msimango elaborated.
He is currently the youngest captain in the Dstv Premiership.
“I’m in the professional environment and I’m still contracted to TS Galaxy regardless of the contract that I have. I had a conversation with the chairman and he made his intentions very clear. He wanted me on the team and showed me that I’m a valuable member of the team. That’s very important for performance if you are wanted and treated in a way that reflects that you are important to the club. When the chairman showed me that, I didn’t hesitate to stay on the team,” he added.
Last season, he scored the most important goal that saved the Rockets from relegation against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
“The reason why I extended my contract with the club, was the statement to signal to TS Galaxy faithful that I’m still here and willing to work for the club,” Msimango concluded.
