The veteran midfielder, Lindokuhle Mbatha, is oozing with confidence ahead of the blockbuster encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy FC tomorrow at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The Rockets are still searching for that elusive victory after three attempts that went futile against the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC, and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Mbatha who played for Sundowns a few years back has informed the TS Galaxy FC website that they can’t afford to lose points.
The match will be streamed live on SuperSport PSL (channel 202).
“It is important to get points as early as possible. We want to lay the foundation in the first round so that when the second round starts, you know that you are pushing for the top eight or top four. That’s why it is important for us to get three points. We have to come out with something in Pretoria,” Mbatha explained.
Last season, the Brazilians attained six points against us.
“Sundowns owes us. They took six points out of six from us in the previous season. They defeated us home and away and we missed out on the top eight because of one point. This time around we have to get something against Sundowns. If we get a chance to get three points, we should grab it with both hands and if we get an opportunity to make a point, we must take it. A point can make a difference at the end of the season,” he added.
The lads are working diligently ahead of tomorrow’s clash.
“Everyone is giving his all at training. We are happy that we scored against Arrows. At least that was a positive. We will continue to work hard as we did against Arrows,” Mbatha elaborated.
The defending league champions, Sundowns, are at the summit of the log after three rounds of action.
“Sundowns are an open book to us. We get to watch them week in and week out. As a team, we will try to exploit their weakness,” Mbatha said.
Even though he played at Sundowns, that doesn’t count for Mbatha.
“I don’t have any point to prove against Sundowns. I will always be grateful for the opportunity that Sundowns gave me. They made me the person I am right now but my priority, for now, is TS Galaxy FC.” Mbatha explained.
