Lindokuhle Mbatha eager to play until his is 40!

TS Galaxy star midfielder Lindokuhle Mbatha has expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of legends like Siyabonga “Bhele” Nomvethe and the late John “Shoes” Moshoeu who all played until they passed the age of 40.

At the age of 36, Mbatha is still going strong. Last season he was a vital cog for the Rockets.

He netted five goals and contributed with five assists. Speaking to the TS Galaxy website, Mbatha revealed his goal of emulating the duo of Nomvethe and Moshoeu.

“It will depend on my legs if they can take me into the levels of Shoes and Bhele. I don’t want to lie, I also want to reach their mark. If my legs can take me there, I’ll be very proud. I know, it won’t be easy,” Mbatha explained.

The Newcastle-born midfielder has been on top of his game ever since he rose to prominence.

“Most players don’t reach the age I’m at in our football. For me, that’s still an achievement. I want to thank God for taking me where I am. Whatever level I’ll reach, I’ll be thankful and happy,” he added.

Mbatha will be looking to continue where he left off when this season begins.

“There are people who are reliant on me. I have a family and kids that I have to take care of. That’s why I always give my best when I’m on the field of play. I have to make these people proud because they are putting their hopes in me and not everyone else.” Mbatha elaborated.
