Wayde Lekay has endured turbulent times in front of goal, but he is ready to end his woes and score goals again.
Lekay started the season like a house on fire. He netted on debut against AmaZulu when we emerged as victors at Mbombela Stadium.
The 23-year-old has registered three goals in 19 league appearances.
The Cape Town-born marksman is hungry to end his goal-scoring drought when the Rockets square off against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Saturday at Emirates Airline Park.
The game is live on SuperSport PSL (channel 202) and across all our social media platforms.
“It is important for me to score goals. Every striker is judged on how many goals he scores. For me, it is all about giving the biggest impact I can whenever I’m on the field of play, and important to start scoring goals again,” Lekay explained.
He has fired blanks in the past six games (Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic, Swallows FC, Black Leopards, Maritzburg United, and Bloemfontein Celtic) but he is determined to end that run against TTM.
“I haven’t scored in a while and it is about time that I start getting back onto the scoresheet,” he added.
His three strikes came against AmaZulu, Maritzburg, and Leopards. Lekay will be out to add to his tally this coming weekend.
“Our next game is the next important game. This game against TTM is important for us. We want to climb the ladder. We don’t want to add numbers. We want to compete in the league and this is where we want to show that our eight-game unbeaten run was not a fluke.” Lekay stated.
