TS Galaxy starlet, Ethan Brooks is enjoying a new lease of life in his career.
The 19-year-old made his debut for TS Galaxy in the DSTV Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
He came on as second half substitute. Not so long ago, Brooks was with Amajita in the Cosafa Cup in Port Elizabeth.
He sat down with TS Galaxy website to discuss his good fortunes.
TS Galaxy (TSG): How does it feel to make your DSTV Premiership debut?
Ethan Brooks (EB): To be honest, it was something that I’ve always wanted to do. Making my debut against Sundowns was exciting. I wanted to go there and prove myself. I didn’t expect it because I just came back from the national duty. I was shocked but at the same time excited when I got a call.
TSG: The last few months has been great for you.
EB: Everything happens for a reason. I can only thank the man above, God. Without him I wouldn’t have achieved all of these things. He has been great for me. I’m enjoying the journey so far.
TSG: How was international football compare to the local game?
EB: It is different compared to playing with the guys who are in South Africa. There, you are competing with players from different countries. The style of play is different. You have to think more on and off the ball. It was a great experience having to represent my country and doing well with the team.
TSG: Where do you see yourself in the next 12 months?
EB: In the next 12 months, I will like to see myself getting more game time and playing in the first team. After that I’ll like to see myself playing overseas. That is my long term dream. The next 12 months, we will be to get in to the starting eleven and start contributing.
TSG: Who did you look up too when you were growing up?
EB: He currently playing for the team right now. Yeye Letsholonyane is my idol. I grew up looking up to him.
TSG: Wow, you are now playing alongside him.
EB: It is amazing. It is something else. I started loving him since the age of 11. I’m glad that I have him alongside me. He will be able to offer me advice and guide me. I’m happy to play with him.
TSG: How are you planning to handle fame that comes with success?
EB: I know that I have to stay humble. I have goals and objectives that I want to fulfill. So, I know that I need to focus. Fame comes but it also goes. I need to stay focused.
TSG: Our next game is against Cape Town City, what do we need to do to get back to winning ways?
EB: We played very well. All we need right now is to find the back of the net. We need goals. That’s the main objective now.
TSG: What sort of an encounter can we expect from City?
EB: They will come at us gun blazing. We also need a win. It is not going to be an easy game for us.
