TS Galaxy starlet, Ethan Brooks rose to prominence last year and is already flourishing in his first season in top flight football. He made his professional debut against Mamelodi Sundowns in the DSTV Premiership in December.
The talented attacking right footer has never looked back since. His exploits earned him a national call up in the Under-20 squad that competed in the Cosafa Cup in Port Elizabeth.
TS Galaxy FC website sat down with Brooks (19) to discuss his meteoric rise.
TS Galaxy (TSG): Ethan, what positives can we take from our game against Baroka FC where we came back from behind to earn a 2-all draw?
Ethan Brooks (EB): As a group I feel we did well against Baroka FC. We showed a good fighting spirit in the last 10 minutes and we should take that mentality in to our game against SuperSport. We need to take over where we left off against Baroka.
TSG: You are playing like a seasoned professional. What has helped you to settle?
EB: The coaches have been informing me to go out there and enjoy myself and that has helped me. That has really assisted me in terms of calming down and play my normal game.
TSG: Any particular teammate of yours who has helped you to settle?
EB: Yeye (Reneilwe Letsholonyane) has helped me a lot in terms of settling down. Prior to our game against Baroka, he offered me some good advice which helped me during the game. Yeye is guiding me.
TSG: And he happens to be your role model.
EB: Yes, Yeye has been my role model. Playing alongside him, it is a dream come true . I’ve seen him playing for the national team (Bafana Bafana) and that’s where I want to be one day.
TSG: How does it feel to finally realize your dream of playing top flight football?
EB: Since I’ve been a young boy, I always wanted to play professional football and I’m happy that is happening. I’m just enjoying that dream right now.
TSG: What lessons did you take from the Under-20 Cosafa Cup?
EB: Playing in the Cosafa Cup really helped me in terms of improving my technical abilities.
