HOTSEAT WITH OWEN DA GAMA

OWEN Da Gama has turned TS Galaxy into a formidable force since taking over the coaching reins.

The club is currently on a four-match undefeated streaky having beaten Maritzburg United, Black Leopards and drawn with Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.

On Wednesday, the Rockets have the date with Bloemfontein Celtic at Mbombela Stadium. The game will kick off at 3pm.

Speaking with the TS Galaxy website, Da Gama revealed the secret behind our good run in the league.

“With my experiences with Bafana Bafana, I’ve learned not to complain whether we were playing in Mali or Sudan. The conditions were not very good in those countries. Even the pitches were not very good. We never complained. Not even once. We went through the qualifiers unbeaten. We never complained about conditions or traveling. People don’t realize how many games we’ve played away from home but we don’t make big deal out of it,” Da Gama detailed.

The Rockets played four games on the trot away from home.

“We’ve just carried on and done what we have to do. Management and the whole technical have done well in managing the situation. We’ve all been united. That unity is the strength of what we’ve achieved so far. It is not about the coach but the unity within the team. Everybody wants to win,” he added.

The club is currently on a free-scoring run having netted in all the previous four league outings.

“We are playing a Celtic team that has done very well. They are above us on the log. There’s something painful now that we will play Celtic. When I was at Highlands Park last season, they beat us on goal-difference to finish in the top eighth.” Da Gama elaborated.
