Galaxy prepared to match Sundowns pound for pound in the league

TS Galaxy star midfielder Lindokuhle Mbatha is not fazed by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Rockets will tussle against the Brazilians on Wednesday at Mbombela Stadium in the DSTV Premiership blockbuster encounter.

The game will kickoff at 7.30 pm and it will be live across our social media platforms and on SuperSport PSL (channel 202).

The Brazilians are oozing with confidence after beating Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium in Egypt this past weekend.

Thapelo Morena scored the late winner for Sundowns. Mbatha believes that the Rockets will match Sundowns pound for pound.

“Sundowns are the powerhouse in South African football. As we speak, they were outside the country playing Caf Champions League. But we are not afraid to play against them. We’ve recently drawn with AmaZulu who are also involved in the Caf Champions League. We will be ready for Sundowns. They came at the right time. We’ve started to develop that consistency by winning more games,” Mbatha detailed.

The Rockets are unbeaten in 2022.

“I’m happy that the team is showing some improvement in the field of play. It shows that everyone is hungry to win,” he added.

Galaxy is now 14th on the log with 17 league points after 19 games.

“Our preparations for the second round were key in our turn-round of results. We are prepared for any battle that comes our way. Everyone wants to fight for the club. Everyone is giving his all,” Mbatha explained.

At some stage, the Rockets were at the foot of the table.

“If we continue with the same hunger, I do not doubt that we will go far as a club. We want to continue with our decent form at home. Three points are very critical at this stage if we can’t get the three points, we should settle for the point. If you can see that you can grab the maximum point, you should go for it,” Mbatha stated.

During the early stage of his career, Mbatha had a stint with the Brazilians.

“For me, it doesn’t count that I’ve once played for Sundowns. I’m happy that they offered me an opportunity to showcase my talent but my focus is now on TS Galaxy Football.” Mbatha elaborated.
