The Rockets succumbed to a 3-0 loss at the expense of the reigning DStv Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mosa Lebusa, Peter Shalulile, and Thabiso Kutumela were all on the scoresheet for the Brazilians.
After the game, Da Gama took full responsibility for the defeat.
“We started well but then we made a tactical blunder at half-time and obviously things turned against us. It is part of the learning curve. You’ll never know what the players can do on the day when you allow them to change positions.
It was our second defeat of the season having suffered a 1-0 loss against Stellenbosch FC in our second game of the season at Danie Craven Stadium.
“The tactical blunder we made was when we pushed Mxolisi Macuphu to the right and we brought in Mthobisi Mngumezulu as a striker. It was unfortunate because two of the three goals that we conceded came from that right-hand side. It is all part of the learning curve. We are disappointed.” Da Gama explained.
After four games, the club has amassed two points. Our next assignment is against Royal AM on Sunday at Chatsworth Stadium.
The game will kick-off at 3pm.
