After sharing the spoils against Kaizer Chiefs in a highly competitive 2021/22 DStv Premiership tussle this past weekend at Mbombela Stadium, TS Galaxy head coach Owen Da Gama was left joyful with several aspects.
Da Gama handed debuts to the likes of Augustine Kwem, Igor Makitan, Vasilije Kolak and Mohammed Anas.
The debutantes impressed Da Gama with their vigilant displays.
“I was impressed with Igor. He was exceptional at the back. The goalkeeper didn’t have much to do. He made one or two decent saves,” Da Gama explained to the members of the media.
The Rockets dominated the bulk of possession and created better goalscoring opportunities but lacked the killer instinct in front of goals.
“Look, we would have wanted a win but it didn’t happen. This is our first competitive game of the season and I was happy with the application of our boys. It was going to be difficult to compete against the team that has been in competitive action under their wings. I was happy that they hung in there for 90 minutes. The only changes that we made were tactical,” he added.
TS Galaxy FC will now square off against Stellenbosch tomorrow at 5pm in the second league game of the season after earning a valuable point against Chiefs.
“We restricted the crosses and forced them to play more to their right. It worked to a certain point. I was disappointed in our strikers. I thought we lost unnecessary balls that went forward. It is a bit of a concern and we will work harder on that. With regards to other aspects, I thought we got it right. We are disappointed with the draw. At home, you want to win.” Da Gama detailed.
